Just got in, so here are my thoughts:

An extrememly solid performance tonight. The defence looked like the defence of old, every man on the pitch worked hard, gave 100%, and put in a really gutsy performance. If we're going up (automatic or not) this is how we need to be playing for the remainder of the season, just with some goals.

The first half was pretty even, no clear chances created by either side really, but in the second half we stepped up a gear and would've scored had the ball just dropped for us in their box. On numerous occasions all we needed was the right bounce and we'd have scored.

Stockdale - They only troubled him from distance, but he never had to get his shorts dirty.

Austin - Back to his ways of old. Very solid at the back, and linked very well with Joachim/Purdie on the right.

Parker - I gave him a special watch today to see if I could make my mind up about him. A bit shaky early on but he got better and better. Got forward very well.

Foster - See Austin. The wall was back out tonight. Brought the ball out of defence well too.

White - Very solid against the pacy Birchill.

Purdie - Looked more effective when he swapped to the left in a 4-3-3 for the last 30 minutes, but was busy throughout.

Nelthorpe - Looked a constant menace. He can certainly run at defenders with pace, but his final ball was missing.

Keltie - Very poor tonight. He got stuck in plenty, but his passing was shocking. Barely picked out his man all night. Just not his day.

Kennedy - A bit hit and miss. He gets forward very well, but his passing was sloppy at times.

Joachim - Man of the match. A bit quiet in the first half, but he came alive in the second. Barnet struggled to cope with his pace, and when he was moved wide for the last 30 minutes he really caused them problems. Never stopped running tonight.

Wright - Only looked half fit, but gave 100% effort. Chased everything, won headers, just lacking half a yard of pace. One of the best performances I've seen him give for us.

One more point of note. At the end of the match Penney made a note of getting every player to come with him to applaud the away support. To me this could've been a sign of a couple of things. Either he felt that that was us done and dusted as far as automatic promotion is concerned, or he has heard the criticism that he comes across as too distant and unappreciative of the supporters.

Now without wanting to sound over positive, if we can pick up a point at Stockport, and beat Hereford, we could just be playing for something come the final day of the season.

Tonight's performance, while not spectacular, was back to basics and very solid. I love being a Darlo fan

Yeah we had very little luck inside the area and were the better side throughout but lacked a cutting edge.

Encouraging about the clean sheet I suppose but I just can't see us being able to score many goals in the next couple of games until Foran is back.

Jockey worked very hard tonight and gave his all as did most of the players.

You would normally take a point here in view of our recent record at Underhill but we really did need all 3 tonight.

Lack of cutting edge is no surprise considering we had a forward who is unfit and another who has played on the wing for most of the season. I actually expected very little down there tonight so a point and a clean sheet will do for me. Lets see what happens at Stockport.

I might even convince myself to go now.....

Yeah, after hearing that, Stockport seems a bit more appealing now.

the big thing for me was the clean sheet, and by the sounds of it, it wasnt a lucky one either

i think in recent week the commitment and blood & thunder defending is what has been missing, pleasing to see that it returned last night as we're gonna need it against stockport - if we can keep a clean sheet anything can happen.

looks like were gonna have to it without foran tho as he's gone pack to southend with an apparent bad knee injury. Hopefully Dave is back shaprish and can partner Tommy with JJ reverting back to the right

As you say, there was nothing lucky about our clean sheet last night. We defended the way we did for the first 6 months of the season. Commitment, no-nonsense, and bravery. Parker is a little slow and got turned abadly once or twice, but Foster was always in to cover.

This "bad knee injury" of Foran's, it's a shame, but thinking about it now that we have Nelthorpe, who looks promising, where does Foran fit? As long as Abbott comes back soon we can probably manage.

We may find until people start getting back into training that needs must and we play 4-3-3.

the result against a Barnet side which has had 3 home wins on the bounce is actually pretty encouraging.

Hopefully Stockport will start to feel the pinch now they are a bit more in touch, and stutter on the weekend :)

this makes sats trip to Stockport a little more promising. The only thing is stockport away aint like Barnet away.

I think your right Bolshy. I would defo take 4 points from the next 2 games. if we can do that then the whole thing is wide open.

Those 4 points MUST include 3 against Hereford though.
